Cave Known for Its Healing Properties – Damlatas Cave

Damlatas Cave, located in Alanya district of Antalya province, was found as a result of the explosion of dynamites in order to open a quarry during the construction of the pier in 1948.

Located on the seaside, the cave is Turkey’s first cave opened to tourism. The cave takes its name as Damlatas Cave due to the drops that continue to drip on its stalactites even now. There are many stalactites and stalagmites in the cave.

At the entrance of the cave, there is a passage with a height of 15 meters and a width of 50 meters. After passing this passage, a cylindrical cavity is reached. From this gap, it is descended to the floor of the cave.

In addition to its natural beauty, many people visit the cave because it is known as healing for asthma patients. Asthma patients wait for a certain time in the cave under the control of a doctor. This treatment takes 21 days in total.

Damlatas Cave has an unchanging atmosphere in both summer and winter months. It has a constant temperature of 22 degrees Celsius in all seasons, a constant pressure of 760 mm, and a humidity of 95 percent.
