Kaleici Museum – History and Culture Museum Trip

Antalya offers many options for tourists with its historical buildings and museums. The Suna and Inan Kirac Museum, located in the Kaleici region of Antalya, is one of the places to visit. You can see Turkish folk culture life and many works in the museum.

Suna and Inan Kirac Kaleici Museum

There are many historical buildings and museums in Kaleici. One of these museums is the Suna and Inan Kirac Kaleici Museum. The museum consists of two separate buildings as a result of the merging of a residence and a church. These two buildings were converted into museums by Suna and Inan Kirac between 1993 and 1995 by keeping their architectural structures intact and being faithful to their originals.

There are animations about Antalya’s culture in the housing building of the museum. The architecture of the Antalya houses of the period in which it was built is reflected in the house. At the entrance, it is passed to the stony part, the floor of which is completely covered with pebble stone mosaics.

There is a service room in each part of the stony. The upper floor of the house, which consists of two floors, is accessed via wooden stairs. In the upper floor rooms, Antalya and Anatolian culture is reflected in the form of animations. These reenactments are cultural events such as offering coffee, henna night, and grooming.

In addition to these animations, old Antalya paintings are also exhibited in the housing. In addition, vocalizations such as street sounds reflected behind the animations take visitors on a journey into the past.

In the other museum building, which consists of a church, many different works are exhibited. The church, which was built in the 19th century, was built by the Orthodox in the name of Aya Yorgi. The church has two entrance gates, one in the north and one in the south. On the upper part of the southern door, there is the picture of Aya Yorgi, which is depicted fighting with the dragon, and the picture of two angels.

There is also a mezzanine floor located in the northern part of the church. This floor is accessed via a spiral staircase. The interior of the mezzanine and the ceiling depicting heaven are decorated with hand-drawn decorations.

You can visit the Suna and Inan Kirac Kaleici museum, which is both a religious, historical and cultural museum, in an average of 40-50 minutes.
