Alara Castle is located on the Silk Road, which is also an important trade route.
It is built to protect the Alara Han, which was built for the accommodation of traders who trade on the Silk Road. The castle is built on a steep rock reaching a height of 200 meters to 500 meters. It consists of two parts, the outer and inner castle. The entrance to the castle starts from a dark corridor with 120 steps.
Inside the castle, there are tunnels obtained by carving the rocks. Among the ruins of the castle, there is a small palace, a bath and the rooms of the people working in the castle. Since Alara Castle is not open to visitors as a ruined place, it is necessary to be careful when visiting the castle. Since there is a deep pit towards the middle of the tunnel in the castle, care should be taken while moving through the tunnel. Climbing is very dangerous as there is a danger of collapse in the tunnels and stairs leading to the castle.
There is no charge to enter the castle. There are nice places to have a picnic in the surrounding area. It is recommended that you do not visit the castle with your children, as the climbing path to the castle is difficult and troublesome.
