If you are a traveler or doing research about places to visit, there are many options in Antalya. Especially in the center of Antalya, there are museums as well as historical buildings. One of these museums is the Atatürk museum. Since it is in the city center, transportation is very easy and it is close to many places to visit in the surrounding.
Antalya Atatürk House and Museum welcomes many people, both local and foreign. The museum consists of a two-storey stone-walled building. Before it was given to Mustafa Kemal Atatürk, it was used as the governor’s office.
Due to Mustafa Kemal Atatürk’s visit to Antalya, the building, which dates back to the 20th century, was cleaned and furnished by the people of Antalya and presented to Atatürk as a gift. After Atatürk’s death, it was transferred to the Special Administration, and in 1939 it was used as the Evening Girls’ Art School and Girls’ Institute.
In 1952, the building was transferred to the Ministry of Agriculture and served as the office of the Technical Director of Agriculture. In 1989, the house is given to the Ministry of Culture and Tourism. The building, which was demolished because it remained on the street part in the implementation of the city’s zoning plan, is rebuilt by Kepez Electricity Company.
This house, which Atatürk used during his Antalya visits, was turned into a museum in 1986 after using it in many different areas.
In addition to these, a documentary on Atatürk and Antalya is presented in the museum. On the upper floor of the museum, monetary values from the establishment of the Republic to the present and personal belongings of Mustafa Kemal Atatürk are exhibited.
